The following are some reasons why perfumes can become unavailable:

  1. Each year, the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) issues ever-stricter safety and allergen regulations. This affects quite a few classic formulas as well as niche compositions, and sometimes brands have to discontinue a perfume if they are unable to reformulate.
  2. The brand decides to change the concentration. For example, an eau de parfum is reformulated as an extrait, effectively turning it into a different perfume.
  3. The brand ceases operating. The creative director passed away, got bored, started a new project, sold the business, etc.
  4. The brand cannot keep up with logistics and production demands, with disruptions for up to a year. If there is no regular production and availability schedule, it is not viable for a stockist to carry the brand.
  5. The brand changed the distribution model, eg from niche to duty free.

Bendito Beso (Discontinued) - Beso Beach - Bloom Perfumery
Bendito Beso (Discontinued) - Beso Beach - Bloom Perfumery

Perfumer: Olivier Cresp*

A transparent and refreshing marine perfume created with Mediterranean citruses floating on fantasy molecules such hedione, paradisione and crisp voluminous musks. A totally dreamy effect of morning sea breeze merging with aromas of flowers welcoming the sunrise.

In the Beso, trio Bendito Beso (which literally translates as “a blessed kiss”) is indeed the early morning by the warm sea, still fresh but with a beautiful promise of happy sunshine later.

The Sniff on the Beso Beach perfumes and Bendito Beso in particular:

"Of all the scents from the Beso Beach line, Bendito Beso felt likely to be the most polarising. It opens with a very vibrant, salty, fresh vibe. If we’d been told that we were inhaling sea air that had been bottled we would have believed you. It smells like a rather bracing walk on a Scottish beach just moments before the warmth of the sun breaks out from behind a cloud. There’s fir in there, an extreme saltiness, wetness and a murky mustiness."

All about this fragrance

Vibe check

This is the scent of an early shoreline before the day fully opens: cool salt on skin, pale light, and a quiet, alert energy. It suits close company and unhurried movement, when you want to feel freshly washed by the air rather than strongly perfumed.

How to wear

Best in warm weather and especially in spring and summer, where its marine citrus brightness can breathe. Apply lightly to pulse points or with one to three sprays for a crisp, airy trail; in heat it reads more saline and transparent, while on skin the musks and woods add a soft, clean finish.

Who it’s for

For wearers who like fresh, marine and citrus compositions with a clean musky finish, and who prefer scents that feel airy, natural and lightly woody rather than sweet or heavy. It will appeal to those drawn to understated coastal perfumes with a polished, modern edge.

Release year

2018

The nose

Olivier Cresp is a prolific French perfumer known for shaping some of modern perfumery’s most recognisable signatures, from luminous florals to airy, crowd-pleasing fresh compositions. His style often balances clarity and radiance with a polished, sensual base, which makes him especially adept at fragrances that feel transparent but still have presence. For Bendito Beso, Cresp leans into that signature brightness: citrus, marine facets and musks are arranged to suggest sea breeze rather than literal seawater, giving the scent its clean, sunlit, Mediterranean character.

Collaborators

Beso Beach’s founders and creative team shaped the fragrance concept around the brand’s beachside world and the idea of taking a piece of the coast home, with the composition built as part of the wider Beso Beach collaboration between Carner Barcelona and the Beso Beach restaurants.

Beso Beach’s story

Beso Beach builds fragrances around Mediterranean places, moods and rituals, translating beach culture into polished perfumery. The house favours artisanal production, local sourcing and a time-of-day approach to the collection, with scents designed to evoke specific moments from morning through evening.

Bendito Beso (Discontinued)’s concept

Bendito Beso was launched in 2018 and introduced at Esxence 2019 as part of the Beso Beach perfume project. The scent was inspired by early morning on Formentera, aiming to capture sea air, salt, wild coastal vegetation and the fresh skin scent of a beach waking up to sunrise.

Extra info

Bendito Beso literally means “a blessed kiss.” The fragrance is part of a Beso Beach line built around Mediterranean destinations and time of day, and its name and concept tie directly to the brand’s sunlit, seaside identity.
