The following are some reasons why perfumes can become unavailable:

  1. Each year, the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) issues ever-stricter safety and allergen regulations. This affects quite a few classic formulas as well as niche compositions, and sometimes brands have to discontinue a perfume if they are unable to reformulate.
  2. The brand decides to change the concentration. For example, an eau de parfum is reformulated as an extrait, effectively turning it into a different perfume.
  3. The brand ceases operating. The creative director passed away, got bored, started a new project, sold the business, etc.
  4. The brand cannot keep up with logistics and production demands, with disruptions for up to a year. If there is no regular production and availability schedule, it is not viable for a stockist to carry the brand.
  5. The brand changed the distribution model, eg from niche to duty free.

All about this fragrance

Vibe check

This is a fragrance for close conversation and composed presence, when you want something polished but not soft-focus. Its cool spice and dry woods suit an intimate setting where the scent can be noticed in movement rather than announced from across the room.

How to wear

Best worn in mild to cool weather, where its spicy floral core and woody base can unfold cleanly on skin. A light application is enough for an extrait; one or two sprays will give a refined trail, while a closer wear keeps the carnation and musk more intimate.

Who it’s for

For those who like floral notes with structure, spice and a dry woody frame rather than sweetness. It will appeal to wearers drawn to artistic, slightly austere compositions with a clean, modern edge and a quietly sensual finish.

2017

The nose

Stéphanie Bakouche is known for compact, characterful compositions that move away from predictable structure and rely on contrast, clarity and a distinctive drydown. Her work often feels modern and sculpted, with a strong sense of texture and evolution rather than decorative excess. For Jul et Mad, she shaped Fugit Amor as a sharp, elegant interpretation of carnation, balancing spice, woods and musk so the floral heart reads as both cool and sensual. The result reflects her taste for concise formulas with a strong identity and a polished, contemporary finish.

Collaborators

Founders Madalina Stoica and Julien Blanchard developed the concept and artistic direction, using Rodin’s sculpture as the starting point and guiding the fragrance’s narrative within the WHITE collection. Stéphanie Bakouche translated that brief into the final composition.

Jul Et Mad’s story

Jul et Mad Paris builds fragrances as personal, art-driven narratives, turning the founders’ love story, travels and cultural references into perfume. The house favors creative freedom for perfumers, but within a tightly edited vision that values originality, emotion and artistic storytelling over formulaic commercial trends.

Fugit Amor’s concept

Fugit Amor was created in 2017 for Jul et Mad Paris’s WHITE collection and takes its inspiration from Auguste Rodin’s marble sculpture of the same name. The fragrance was conceived as a study in contrast, echoing the tension between cold stone and fragile warmth through a spicy carnation heart, woods and musk.

Extra info

Fugit Amor is part of Jul et Mad Paris’s WHITE collection and is named after Rodin’s sculpture of the same title. It is an extrait de parfum made in France, and the brand presents it as one of its more original, contrast-driven compositions.
