The following are some reasons why perfumes can become unavailable:

  1. Each year, the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) issues ever-stricter safety and allergen regulations. This affects quite a few classic formulas as well as niche compositions, and sometimes brands have to discontinue a perfume if they are unable to reformulate.
  2. The brand decides to change the concentration. For example, an eau de parfum is reformulated as an extrait, effectively turning it into a different perfume.
  3. The brand ceases operating. The creative director passed away, got bored, started a new project, sold the business, etc.
  4. The brand cannot keep up with logistics and production demands, with disruptions for up to a year. If there is no regular production and availability schedule, it is not viable for a stockist to carry the brand.
  5. The brand changed the distribution model, eg from niche to duty free.

All about this fragrance

Vibe check

This is the scent of being close to someone in a quiet room, where the air carries a soft almond warmth and a faint resinous haze. It suits unhurried moments, when the mood is relaxed but not casual and the fragrance can read as comforting, slightly playful, and memorably personal.

How to wear

Best in cool to mild weather, where its almond, vanilla, and benzoin facets can bloom without becoming heavy. Apply lightly: one to three sprays is enough to keep the incense and woods close to the skin while letting the sweeter notes leave a soft, edible trail rather than a loud projection.

Who it’s for

For those who like gourmand-leaning scents with restraint, smooth woods, and a soft resinous finish. It will appeal to wearers who prefer comfort over sparkle, minimalism over complexity, and fragrances that feel intimate, creamy, and slightly nostalgic.

The nose

Domitille Michalon-Bertier is a respected French perfumer known for composing with a polished, modern sensibility and a strong feel for texture. Her work often balances radiance and depth, which makes her especially adept at fragrances that need to feel both wearable and distinctive. She is widely associated with major commercial successes as well as more characterful niche projects, and her style tends to favor clear structures, luminous florals, and smooth, sensual materials. In Un Deux Trois Soleil, that instinct for comfort and contrast suits Bastille’s brief: a minimalist composition that turns almond, heliotrope, benzoin, and incense into something intimate, soft, and quietly addictive.

Bastille’s story

Bastille builds its identity around transparency, sustainability, and a freer idea of luxury. The house favors short formulas, natural materials, and a clean, modern aesthetic, while keeping the compositions emotionally direct rather than overworked. Its perfumes aim to feel honest, contemporary, and accessible without losing olfactory character.

Un Deux Trois Soleil (Green Light

Un Deux Trois Soleil is presented as a fragrance of radiant childhood warmth, with the image of a holiday afternoon and a secret snack eaten on the sly. Its almond, vanilla, heliotrope and benzoin accord is meant to feel familiar and slightly mischievous, like a memory that stays on the tongue. The formula is also notable for its minimalism, using a tightly edited ingredient list rather than a dense classical structure.

Extra info

The formula is unusually concise for a perfume, with 27 ingredients rather than the hundreds used in many classic compositions. Its name, Un Deux Trois Soleil, nods to a childhood game and reinforces the fragrance’s playful, memory-driven character.
